Paramedics may work under direct supervision or independently to provide medical care to sick or injured patients using a variety of medical skills, emergency techniques, and equipment. Paramedics will attend training classes to maintain and improve skills necessary to work in a fire-based EMS system. Paramedics respond as part of a fire response team to emergency calls to perform medical care and transport services in addition to fire ground support for ground cover fires, structure fires, rescues, and hazardous materials incidents. Paramedics will NOT be part of interior fire attack teams nor need to carry any firefighter certifications but may be asked to assist in stretching hose lines, connecting hose to hydrant, and other assigned fireground tasks. Additionally, they assist the public with non-emergency requests or complaints, emergency medical education, community service, and public education.

High School Diploma or GED
Valid Drivers License
At Least 21 Years of Age at the Time of Hire
Minimum of 3 years as a Paramedic with an ambulance service, fire department or protection district.
Current AHA BLS, ACLS, & PALS certificate
National Registry & State of Colorado EMT-Paramedic Certification.
Successfully Complete EVOC training with the District or equivalent training from another agency within 6 months of acceptance of this job description
Must pass, or have previously completed, the District’s Work Capacity Test as administered by the District. Must also complete on an annual basis the arduous NWCG Work Capacity Test.
NIMS IS-100/200/700/800 within 6 months
US Citizen or be legally authorized to work in The United States
Satisfy All additional requirements listed in the Part-Time Paramedic Job Description
